The estate was first mentioned in a document in 1117 as the headquarters of St. Peter’s Cathedral Salzburg and has been owned by the Steiner family since 1711. Since 1952 the Steiner family have been endeavoring to preserve and enlarge the hotel-resort as a place of Styrian hospitality.
